Testimonials

"Thank you for your wonderful help for organizing our Anniversary party last month. Our Iron Chef BBQ Challenge in Toronto allowed each team to create their own unique 'masterpiece'. Some of the teams were very original in the naming of their food and teams, which made the whole thing very comical. A lot of people were able to socialize and get to know one another who do not normally work together. Some people were also meeting for the first time. It was a wonderful event … we would definitely do it again!"

Winning Project Management

Keep Your Boat Afloat!

The Winning Project Management program is an active and engaging learning event where participants divide into teams and then have the opportunity to build a real boat constructed from cardboard. This boat will be built and then evaluated in a number of areas including presentation, design, USP/marketing, cohesiveness and finally, functionality.

This means that each team will be putting at least one member into the boat to compete on the water in a navigational challenge. Winning the boat race will not guarantee the overall win, but it will be a big factor.

Among the various stages of the challenge, we will review and practice concepts like:

Corporate Explorer Training | Winning Project Management
  • Use Proper Requirement Analysis
  • Crucial Resource Management
  • Process and Methodologies
  • Why Knowledge Management Works
  • Budgeting for Success
  • Planning to Win
  • Smooth Client Communication
  • Real Team Building

During the course of the event, teams will have to deal with several curve balls that are not uncommon in the real world, new requirements, staff changes, etc.

At each stage teams will have the opportunity to change roles so that everyone in the group has a chance to be project lead. At the end of the building process, teams will put together a group presentation that will highlight their accomplishments and ‘sell’ their boat to the client.

Following the race, there will be a facilitated debriefing session where the events will be dissected according to the concepts that were learned. This review will be invaluable to knowledge retention later. Participants will also have the chance to share what they observed and learned.

Finally, there will be an awards presentation where each team will be recognized for some outstanding element of their project. Of course, the coveted Cardboard Shipwright Contract will also be given to the winning team. Depending on location and available resources, this would also be a time where a very popular slideshow featuring participants from each team and the subsequent contest would be shown.

This is a very popular fun event - and one where the take-away lessons will benefit your business for a long time into the future.
